About blackscorpion.com and Samuel Gaytan
What have you done besides rent Web space?
I've worked as a journalist in Texas, Louisiana and Nevada. I've been a reporter and an editor, and some of my photos have been published in newspapers and Web sites.
Places I've worked include the Houston Chronicle, the Reno Gazette-Journal, the San Antonio Express-News and the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Web site, nola.com. Other job titles I've held include news editor, senior producer/news, online night news editor and home page producer.
My interest in Web work began when I helped launch the Web site for the San Antonio Express-News and later the Times-Picayune.
Where did the url come from?
I used to live on a mesa in West Texas in a loft that had a healthy population of scorpions. I used to catch them in Gatorade bottles, then let them go later on someplace else. I didn't turn them into paperweights.
I'm also a Scorpio, although that had little if any impact on the URL since I like the way scorpions look more than I like astrology.
As for the "black," that's my favorite color. At the time I registered the URL, most of my furniture was black, which made finding the TV remote difficult. The two ideas merged into blackscorpion.com
Why is the scorpion in the logo white?
It looks better.
