Houston Chronicle: chron.com
After a return to print work for the Reno Gazette-Journal, where I was news editor, I went back into Web work and supervised the Houston Chronicle's online night staff in the posting of print reports, breaking news and the addition of photo galleries, audio, video and blog and forum entries. Later, as home page editor, I trained Copy Desk and Business editors and coordinated with the City, Business and Photo desks to update the site. I also scheduled promos to increase Web site traffic and analyzed weekend traffic patterns.

Times-Picayune in New Orleans: NOLA.com
Being involved in one start-up wasn't enough, so I helped launch NOLA.com, the Web site for The New Orleans Times-Picayune. I supervised the online News, Business and Sports sections. I also trained the staff, freelancers and part-time workers in Web editing, forum, audio and imaging software. I was liaison with the Times-Picayune, Advance Internet and companies including the Associated Press. Also, I covered breaking news and took photos for the Web site, as well as ran live Web shows from Bourbon Street.

San Antonio Express-News
After years of helping produce the print edition of the San Antonio Express-News, I helped launch Express-News Online (now mysanantonio.com). Being involved in a start-up required doing a lot of everything, from writing, taking photos and helping implement technology to editing the work from the News, Photo, Art and New Media departments. I also did much of the early design. Besides coordinating community coverage, I also trained new employees on Web software and technology.
